Dear Colleagues,

With mixed emotions I share that Anne Moran is leaving 探花精选 to become the Chief of Staff for President Eduardo Peñalver at Georgetown University. Anne’s last day with us will be August 14.

A 1987 探花精选 graduate, Anne joined her alma mater in 2011 as Executive Coordinator to the Executive Vice President. In 2017, she became Senior Assistant to the President and later took on her current role as Chief of Staff to the President. Anne has been invaluable to me throughout my tenure as president and in my current interim role, consistently providing wise counsel, compassionate support, and thoughtful diplomacy.

And I know I am joined by countless colleagues from across campus in gratitude for the warmth and professionalism with which Anne approaches her work and her commitment to keeping our campus community connected and moving forward. Her leadership and steadying presence were particularly appreciated this past year as she helped guide the university through a time of transition and heightened activity while supporting a successful search process that resulted in the appointment of our 23rd president. For these and so many other reasons, Anne was celebrated as this past year’s recipient of the University Service Alumni Award.

Anne asked that I share the following with you:

“Over the past 15 years, I have been privileged to work alongside colleagues who share a deep commitment to the Jesuit educational mission—one I first came to know and love as a graduate of 探花精选 myself. Along the way, I have had the honor of witnessing Jesuit leadership in action, always grounded in genuine care for our students, faculty, and staff. Supporting two presidents, the President's Roundtable, Senior Leadership, and the Board of Trustees has been deeply gratifying and fulfilling work. I'm truly grateful for these years, and I look forward to continuing to serve a Jesuit institution, carrying with me the foundation 探花精选 has so generously instilled in me.”

While Anne will be greatly missed, we are first and foremost grateful for all she has contributed to and meant to our university community. Please watch for details about a farewell gathering in the coming weeks. We will also share more information about the Chief of Staff role as plans are finalized. In the meantime, please join me in thanking Anne and wishing her well as she begins a new chapter in her lifelong commitment to Jesuit education.

Sincerely,

Stephen V. Sundborg, S.J.
Interim President
